04 — PRACTICALITIES

Visa, insurance, currency and entry rules for Ukrainian citizens

Every line below is written for a Ukrainian foreign passport, for travel to Turkey and Egypt with children. Each row starts with the rule and then the detail that actually matters at the airport.

Passport validity: Egypt asks for six months of validity left from the entry date. Turkey accepts a passport valid for 150 days past entry. Every child needs a personal passport; a birth certificate alone is not an entry document.
Visa and e-Entry: Turkey is visa free for Ukrainian citizens for stays up to 90 days inside any 180 day window. Egypt issues a single entry tourist visa on arrival for USD 25, or you can file the same e-Visa online before departure.¹
Border formalities: Antalya and Bodrum stamp the passport at the counter. Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh collect the visa fee in cash, so keep one clean banknote ready and avoid paying it in a hurry at the desk.
Travel insurance: Neither country demands a policy at the border, and we still would not book a family trip without one. Confirm the cover includes medical evacuation and paediatric care, not only hospital admission.²
Currency and cards: Turkey runs on the lira, Egypt on the Egyptian pound. Card acceptance is wide inside hotels and thin in markets, taxis and boat trips, so carry a modest cash float in small notes for the first two days.
Flights and one parent travel: Direct charters to Antalya, Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh leave Kyiv, Lviv and Odesa between April and October. If a child travels with one parent only, carry the other parent's notarised consent in Ukrainian with an English translation.
